Job Description

This position is responsible for the sales and development of a beer portfolio in the Metro Boston territory. The Brand Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for increasing sales within territory and executing and managing distributors’ annual business plan (ABP). 

 

The BDM must be a self-driven, independent worker with proven sales results and knowledge of distributor operations. BDM will be responsible for developing and implementing ABP in the on and off-premise channels. On-premise is 20% focus. Off-Premise is 80% focus.

 

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage the growth and development of supplier in a defined geography of key accounts, with a focus in the off-premise channel
  • Make frequent sales calls to potential on and off-premise accounts within assigned territory in conjunction with the distributor sales force and / or independently
  • Increase sales within regional territory by targeting existing and prospective customers based on ABP
  • Work with Regional Market Managers (RMM) to review and obtain distributor goals
  • Secure and place features and displays in the on and off-premise channels
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales
  • Train distributor and account personnel
  • Up to 10% travel may be required outside of local territory to visit international brewery and other markets for planning purposes

Sales Reporting

  • Daily upkeep of CRM software
  • Daily upkeep of Certify expense software
  • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports
  • Must possess the ability to define problems, establish facts and collect data to interpret issues, draw valid conclusions from the data and recommend solutions to the business problem
Job Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in beverage distribution sales
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Beer sales experience preferred; adult beverage experience required
  • Must reside within assigned territory
  • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record  
  • Must be familiar with the brewing industry and the distributors that operate in the assigned territory
  • Must have good public speaking, record keeping, and business communication skills
  • Requires basic computer competence in word, excel, and email
  • Attention to detail, analytical ability, and sense of urgency
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
